PGA TOUR, LPGA, and European Tour are all at work this week. The PGA is in Memphis for the FedEx St Jude Classic, the TOUR’s final event leading up to the US Open.  The LPGA Tour is contending its second major of the year, the Women’s PGA Championship; and the European Tour is contending the Lyoness Open in Atzenbrugg, Austria. Golf fans have another great week of action in store.

Let’s start with the LPGA’s second major.

The LPGA Tour will be at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, WA for the second major of the year the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Defending champion Inbee Park comes into this event with a cloud over her head after multiple withdraws with a nagging wrist injury.

Park has won the PGA Championship for the last three years in a row and she needs this start to complete her requirements for Hall of Fame membership. But Park has been seriously hampered by that thumb injury. She’ll make the start but don’t look for her to contend for a 4th consecutive victory.

Expect the battle to be played out between world number 1 Lydia Ko, Ariya Jutanugarn -the Tour’s hottest new young player – Lexi Thompson and In Gee Chun, who could be Park’s heir apparent among the Korean juggernaut.

The European Tour will be in Austria this week for the Lyoness Open powered by Sporthilfe Cashback Card at the Diamond Country Club. Chris Wood picked up his second Euro tour victory at the 2015 event and will be back to defend his title.

Wood will face a determined field as he tries to become the only player with back-to-back wins at the Lyoness Open. Bernd Wiesberger is a strongly favored home town contender and Joost Luiten will make Wood work for anything he can get.  Matt Baldwin, Grégory Bourdy, Søren Hansen, Lee Slattery, Mikael Lundberg and Gary Stal, along with Wiesberger, are fine-tuning their games for the US Open next week, so they’ll all be looking for the top of the leaderboard at the Lyoness.
