US Open Thursday and Friday tee times and groupings for Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, & others.
Jason Day may be at the top of the list but he’s not the only one on the list. Golf fans are checking off their favorites for Oakmont.
The USGA has released the tee times for the U.S. Open, and they are spreading the wealth around, which is a good idea since so many people want to see the top players. This way, if you are on site, you might have to walk a little more, but there’s a better chance you’ll see your favorite player hit a few shots. If not, then use these to know when to set you DVR and how far to fast forward. Here are the highlights for Jason, Jordan, Rory, DJ, Phil, Bubba and Rickie.
Jason Day is playing with Adam Scott and Louis Oosthuizen. That’s a long-hitting threesome so if you are lucky enough to be on site, be sure to stand at the tee or someplace more than 310 yards from it. They are off No. 1 at 2:20 Thursday.
Jordan Spieth is in a threesome with Zach Johnson and last year’s amateur champ, Bryson DeChambeau. They go off the 10th tee at 8:35.

Rory McIlroy is with Danny Willett and Rickie Fowler. They go off No 1 at 8:24.
Phil Mickelson is grouped with Justin Rose and Henrick Stenson at 2:09 starting on the 10th tee.
The Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed and Matt Kuchar threesome begins at 7:51 on hole No.1.
And Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Hideki Matsuyama are off the first hole at 1:36.
The USGA is long-known for its interesting groupings. In years past it has done crazy things like grouping guys who won the Met Open and guys who had mustaches. And there may be some of that in the list.
What is far more common is a grouping of US Open winners like Webb Simpson, Graeme McDowell and Geoff Ogilvy at 1:47 on Thursday, followed at 1:58 by Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and the man who won the last time the U.S. Open was at Oakmont, Angel Cabrera.
Lee Westwood, Luke Donald and Martin Kaymer are all former world No. 1s, and they tee off at 8:13 on the 10th hole.
Guys whose names begin with B are Brandt Snedeker, Bill Haas and Billy Horschel, off the 10th hole at 1:36.
Three major winners Retief Goosen, Keegan Bradley and Lucas Glover tee off at 2:20. They are also former long putter users. (Yes, it seems the USGA really does have a mean sense of humor.)
We could make a joke about Spieth, Zach Johnson and DeChambeau being a group of short hitters, but we won’t because they get it out there plenty far compared to normal humans. They just don’t hit it 360 the way Day and Dustin Johnson do unless it’s downhill with a wind.
Players who are lesser known or who do not have major title as well as qualifiers will be in the early tee times or the very late tee times. If you have a friend who qualified, look there to find him.
