1923 🇬🇧 Arthur Havers

In 1923, Royal Troon hosted The Open Championship for the first time.

On June 15th, 1923, Englishman Arthur Havers won the coveted Claret Jug at the young age of 25, completing a boyhood dream. He opened the tournament with consistency by shooting rounds of 73 and managed to shut the door on the great Walter Hagen in the final round. Havers got it done in style by chipping in on the last hole from a greenside bunker.
