Dustin Johnson is on the hunt for his third win of the season at the RBC Canadian Open.

PGA Tour superstar Dustin Johnson is playing some of the best golf of his career at the moment. It’s amazing what finally breaking through at a major can do for your confidence — we saw what Jason Day was able to accomplish after picking up his first last year. DJ has been on a similar roll, and it doesn’t look like he’s letting up any time soon.

For him, it’s been business as usual so far at the RBC Canadian Open. After a beautiful six-under 66 in the first round, DJ had to battle back from going four-over in his first four holes on Friday. He was able to do just that, playing the final 14 holes in five-under-par to post a red number for the day and keep his name tied atop the leaderboard.

Johnson has been spectacular off the tee. We know he can hit it a mile, but he’s also ranked second in driving accuracy so far this week. It’s amazing to watch him unload on some of these par 5s at Glen Abbey. He has hit driver-wedge into many of these greens, which is unthinkable. Accompanying his amazing driving has been a really solid putter, as he currently ranks second in putts per green. When DJ putts well, he is usually tough to beat.

Luke List is tied with Johnson atop the leaderboard. His performance has kind of come out of nowhere, as he’s made just 10 of 22 cuts this season. He has always been known as a long hitter, and he has been taking advantage of his distance this week. To add to that, his iron game has been sharp — on the week, List is second in strokes gained: tee-to-green. We will see if he has what it takes to keep up with DJ this weekend.

Just a shot back is the young and talented Jon Rahm of Spain. He has impressed the world as we have started to see more of him in the last few months. He has been great with both the driver and the putter this week. He is currently first in strokes gained: off-the-tee and second in strokes gained: putting. His first win doesn’t seem far off — and it could very well come at the RBC Canadian Open.

World No. 1 Jason Day struggled during the second round of the RBC Canadian Open. He carded six bogeys and only two birdies. His is now one-over for the championship, eight shots back of the leaders. He has really struggled off the tee this week, hitting just six fairways through two rounds. He’s lucky he has such a great short game, because he’s got a lot of ground to make up this weekend.

Conditions for the weekend look great, and there shouldn’t be any rain to soften this golf course up. Balls are really getting out there. The leaderboard is pretty tight near the top, but all eyes will continue to be on the hottest player on the planet, Dustin Johnson, to see if he can win the RBC Canadian Open for his third victory in four starts.
