This group is stacked with pure talent and recent success. Matsuyama and Justin Thomas each hold the top two spots in the FedEx Cup standings and are responsible for winning five of the past ten Tour events this season. Did I mention that this group also includes the world number 1, Jason Day?

This tournament marks the second time this year that Thomas and Matsuyama have been in the same group.

Hideki Matsuyama is obviously off to a sizzling 2017, but can he continue his success here at Riviera? Hideki has 2 wins and 4-top 10’s in 6 events played this season. The Japanese born sensation sits a top the FedEx Cup standing at number one. Matsuyama’s scoring average and short game are off the charts good.

Justin Thomas is at the same level of play Matsuyama is at, elite. Thomas has 3 wins and 4 top 10’s this season and sits right behind Matsuyama in the FedEx Cup standings. If Thomas’ game is dialed in there could be a shootout on our hands.

Jason Day is the world number one and looking for his first win since taking home the Players Championship last spring. Day tied 5th last week at Pebble Beach and looks to do a little more this week in search for a win.
