Rickie Fowler cruised to his 4th PGA TOUR win at the Honda Classic with a bag full of Cobra equipment.

Rickie Fowler notched his 4th PGA Tour victory – and his 7th worldwide win – at the Honda Classic. Fowler started Sunday with a comfortable but not secure 4 shot lead over the chasing pack. He closed it out at -12 and still ahead of the field by 4 shots.

Between Sunday’s start and finish it was anything but easy for Fowler. He ran one ball into a sprinkler hole and put another one in the water from his tee shot on the 17th, yet another victim of the Bear Trap.

Gary Woodland almost caught him, but Fowler pulled his cookies out of the fire with a couple of spectacular birdie putts.

Standing over those two putts, one 40 feet and the other 24, Fowler said he knew:

"If I don’t make those putts, I’ve got a pretty tight race"

What was in Fowler’s bag for the Honda Classic?

For starters, a shorter driver. He cut his 44.5″ Cobra King F7+ down to 43.5″. Why? To balance out the progression from his irons to his 5-wood and 3-wood. The shortened driver seemed to improve balance for Fowler.

Did the change have the desired results? Fowler finished T17 in driving accuracy (67.86 percent) and T12 in driving distance (303.9 yards). Maybe we all need to reduce the length of our drivers?

Fowler also did a good job on the putting surface with his Scotty Cameron Newport 2 prototype. He led the field in birdies with 21 on his card and he ranked 2nd in strokes gained: putting.

All-in-all, this was a good win for Rickie Fowler. It sets up his season nicely.

"I guess I can already plan on Hawaii for next year. I can relax a little bit. This just lets us chill out in a way. There’s less pressure, less stress. I think this is something we needed going into Augusta. I like this spot we’re in right now."
