European Tour: Hero Indian Open Top-10 Player Power Rankings
In contrast to many pro golfers who qualify for the PGA TOUR Lahiri does not maintain a residence in Florida. He lives in Bangalore, India, explaining the value of his cultural identity in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
"“I’m really proud of the fact that I’m a more national Indian, so to speak—I’m equally comfortable with different languages, cultures, foods. I think that’s one of the aspects of being an army kid. It is one thing that is common among almost every army brat. It’s almost like we are a culture of our own.”"

The Hero Indian Open is more than another golf tournament for Lahiri. It’s his national open and the galleries who will be following him are as aware as he is of the bonds of identity. That’s going to be a major advantage for Lahiri this week.
With a smooth, accurate drive and skillful tee-to-green work, Lahiri is positioned to take control of the tournament. And although by the numbers Lahiri’s short game isn’t quite as good as Cabrera Bello’s, it’s good enough for him to challenge the Spaniard. The gallery support is likely to do the rest for Anibar Lahiri.
