The competition is intense. There’s very little room for mistakes. Winning The Masters isn’t easy. Those who win the tournament more than once are among golf’s most elite and entitled to claim a very special place in the game’s history.
Jack Nicklaus holds this record, with 6 green jackets hanging in his closet. Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods are both 4-time Masters champions.
The list gets a bit longer when we count the 3-time Masters champs: Jimmy Demeret, Nick Faldo, Phil Mickelson, Gary Player, and Sam Snead.
And then there are the 2-timers: Seve Ballesteros, Ben Crenshaw, Ben Hogan, Bernhard Langer, Byron Nelson, Jose Maria Olazabal, Horton Smith, Bubba Watson, and Tom Watson.
Langer, Mickelson, Olazabal, and Bubba are in the field this year, as are 14 single year Masters champions. Does winning The Masters get easier after you’ve done it once? Perhaps.
My Prediction: The 2017 Masters Champion will be a previous winner.
