Race To Dubai update: Top 10 through May 10th, 2017
By Gary Healy
The number two spot in this week’s rankings includes another exciting young player out of England, Tommy Fleetwood. Fleetwood was one of the three European Tour players to earn Special Temporary PGA TOUR cards earlier this season, so his play in European Tour events is likely to decline. Although he’ll be playing in fewer events, it’s hard to believe he’ll slip out of the top 10 at any point.

Fleetwood, currently tied with Bernd Weisberger for most RTD point event starts, has definitely made his appearances count. A winner already this season, Fleetwood has also racked up four top 10’s. Two of these top 10’s are solo second-place finishes, which are always likely to boost point totals and move players up the rankings. Fleetwood earned almost a million points in his solo second-place finish at the WGC-Mexico Championship. These high finishes are what’s going to keep Fleetwood in this high position he has secured thus far.
Fleetwood is an exciting young player. At only 26 years of age, he has already been a pro for almost seven years. As of right now, he is seventh on the European Tour in Strokes Average, which will always lead to high finishes and point totals. Although Fleetwood accepted the Special Temporary Card from the PGA TOUR for this season, we’ll continue to see him in some European Tour events, as well as major championships and WGC events, where hopefully he can continue to amass these high point totals.
