Race To Dubai update: Top 10 through May 10th, 2017
By Gary Healy
Masters runner-up Justin Rose is currently ranked 4th in Race to Dubai points. So far this season, Rose has played in only three RTD point events, tied for the lowest number of starts among the top 10. That solo runner-up at the Masters counted big-time in the Race to Dubai.
In his two other RTD point events played so far this season, Rose had only earned roughly 72,000 points. After his week at The Masters, he gained over a million points, shooting him up the points list to a spot within the top five. His finish at The Masters also happened to be his only top 10 in a RTD point event this season, again stressing the importance of finishing high in majors in this Race.
Rose is a perennial contender in most majors and events on both the European and PGA TOUR. Although he got off to somewhat of a slow start as far as points are concerned, I would be shocked to see him drop out of the top 10 as the season moves along. There are still three more majors to play this season and with them comes a huge number of RTD points. It is doubtful we’ll see Rose slide as the season progresses.
