Golf equipment options seem to endlessly proliferate – here are three smartphone golf apps that can help recreational golfers improve their games.

Golf apps are the newest in an endlessly-expanding world of golf equipment and they exist for helping with just about every aspect of the recreational golfer’s game.  In fact, there are so many that it can be tough to know which ones can be useful and which can be ignored.

If you’re looking to improve your golf game, here are three smartphone apps that can help you take your game to the next level.

V1 Golf

V1 Golf is an app that I use from time to time. It’s a good app for basic swing modifications and uses your smartphone camera to record him/herself swinging. The app gives the user feedback in the form of lines that can be drawn on their videos to analyze the swing.

The V1 Golf app also has slow-motion video which allows the user to go back and look at each aspect of their swing in slow motion.

V1 also allows the user to download the swing patterns of PGA TOUR pros and compare their swing to those of the best players in the world.

Price: $4.99 and has in-app purchases

Compatibility: iPhone, iPad, Android devices

HUDL Technique Golf: Slow Motion Swing Analysis

More from Pro Golf Now

Much like the V1 golf app, HUDL allows users to record their swings. Also similar to the V1 app, HUDL allows users to go back and look at your swing in slow motion.

The biggest difference between HUDL and V1 is that HUDL has a separate tab for golf lessons that include videos of professional instructors walking users through each aspect of the swing and how to complete it.

This feature is basically a tab for accessing a set of virtual golf lessons. HUDL is free whereas V1 golf has a cost associated with it.

Golf GPS and Scorecard by SwingxSwing

This golf app is exactly what it says in the title. There is a rangefinder tab and the app comes with a variety of preloaded courses. The app also has a scorecard that allows you to track every stroke, including how many putts you took during your round and whether or not you hit a green in regulation.

After three saved rounds, the app will provide you with a calculated handicap. The app also has a variety of other functions as well. It allows you to book tee times as it has TeeOff and the PGA TOUR booking website integrated within the app.

This app allows you to share your scores on social media and it creates a graph of all your stats.

This app is free on the app store.
