Henrik Stenson is one of Sweden’s national heroes and he’s going to enjoy tremendous gallery support this week.  It’s an advantage that shouldn’t be discounted.

The man with 19 worldwide professional victories is coming into the Nordea Masters looking very good. With the exception of a surprising and disappointing missed cut at the 2017 Masters, Stenson hasn’t finished outside the top 10 since his victory at The Open last July. That’s an amazingly consistent record of excellence and one that’s going to be tough to beat, particularly playing on Stenson’s home turf.

Here’s what makes Henrik Stenson such an outstanding golfer. He hits better than 76 percent of fairways off the tee and ranks sixth on the Tour in driving accuracy. He also hits about 76 percent of the greens in regulation and ranks 13th on the Tour in GIR. That gives this guy who’s basically just a little bit better than average with his flatstick a huge competitive advantage. Watch him capitalize on that advantage this week. Don’t bet against Stenson for the win.

Golf Channel will provide full coverage of the Nordea Masters, beginning at 5am on Thursday, June 1. Who are you liking for the win this week? Will Stenson find redemption? Will Noren sustain his momentum? Will Westwood prove that he still has the right stuff? The top of the field are all thinking as much about Erin Hills and the 177th U.S. Open as they are about successfully navigating Barseback Golf and Country Club. But they need to stay focused on what’s immediately before them.
