Here’s a full list of the 156 players who will compete at the 146th Open Championship, which will begin at Royal Birkdale on July 20.

With the 2017 U.S. Open in the books, it’s time to look ahead to the 146th Open Championship, which will be contested for the 10th time from historic Royal Birkdale Golf Club. The last time Royal Birkdale hosted The Open Championship was in 2008 when Padraig Harrington won his second consecutive Claret Jug.

The Open Championship is the oldest major championship in the world. First contested on a 12-hole course in 1860, this tournament has crowned some of the greatest champions in the history of the sport. Harry Vardon leads the way with six victories while Tom Watson and Peter Thomson are just behind with five victories each. Young Tom Morris holds the record for most consecutive victories with four.

More from Pro Golf Now

The best round in Open Championship history is a 63, achieved by 10 golfers, most recently last year at Royal Troon when Phil Mickelson accomplished the feat in the first round and Henrik Stenson duplicated it in the final round en route to shooting 20-under 264 for the tournament, which stands as not just the lowest cumulative score in Open Championship history, but in major championship history as well.

Stenson will be in the field at Royal Birkdale and he’ll be joined by 155 others who got into the field in one of 31 ways. Many players in the field would qualify under numerous categories, which is why you’ll notice some things are left blank. For example, The Open Championship invites any past winner aged 60 years or younger on the day of the final round, which would obviously include the last 10 winners. Basically, if you don’t see a player’s name where you think it should be, it’s because he’s already qualified in an earlier category.

The final field won’t be set until the Sunday before the tournament begins but we’ll continue to update this list as more competitors enter the field.

Here’s the most up-to-date list on the 156-player field for the 146th Open Championship.
