Travelers Championship power rankings: Top 10 at TPC River Highlands
Despite some of his season-long struggles, Spieth still leads the Tour in Strokes Gained: Approaching the Green, anchored by his 70.90% greens-in-regulation rate. Spieth also leads the PGA TOUR in proximity to the hole on approach, at an average distance of 32 feet, 7 inches. At a shorter track like TPC River Highlands, that’s a formula for success.

Spieth was the first of the big four players to commit to the Travelers this year, followed shortly by Rory McIlroy and Jason Day. Spieth’s, however, is also a game that seems to fit the course more than those two. He’s never going to be the most powerful player in the field, but when it comes to his short game, Spieth is second to none.
Spieth finished his U.S. Open with a Sunday round of three-under 69, good enough to earn him a tie for 35th place. While that certainly carries some disappointment, that was also tied for the fourth best round of the day, at a course that had given up some very low numbers on multiple occasions throughout the week.
Spieth seems to have turned around his lingering issues from last month, and should be back to his contending ways as soon as this weekend.
