He’s not just going out there shooting 71 every round to make the weekend. In that span, Wiesberger won the Shenzhen International and picked up eight top fives.
His game travels well on both sides of the pond, with a top 20 at the U.S. Open, a top 25 in Houston and a top 15 at THE PLAYERS.
His ball striking has been excellent (74.1% GIR, 20th European Tour), which should lend itself well this week. This will be his third start in as many weeks and fourth in five, but that’s the norm for the big 31-year-old who made 28 starts in 2016 and 30 in 2015.
Wiesberger tied for 11th here in 2016 and won by three in 2015 thanks to a scorching final-round 65. Coming off of a final-round 68 last week at the BMW International Open, Wiesberger enters in fine form and is my pick to win the cup.
