Currently edging out Noren in the Official World Golf Ranking for low Swede is Henrik Stenson.

Stenson has yet to win in 2017, but a runner-up finish to Sergio Garcia at the Dubai Desert Classic and a T3 behind Noren and Francesco Molinari at the BMW PGA show he’s not far off.

An opening 76 kept Stenson from contending at the 2016 Scottish Open, but he rallied with three straight sub-par rounds to tie for 13th. He also owns top 10s at this event in 2012 and ’13.

If you’re not convinced of Stenson’s links prowess, let me remind you of a little event he won called the 2016 Open Championship. He beat Phil Mickelson in an epic duel, carding a major championship aggregate record of 264 not far from Dundonald Links at Royal Troon.

“I played last year the week before Troon and we all know how that turned out,” the 40-year-old was quoted in a BBC article, “so playing in the Scottish Open definitely helps to fine tune the links game.”
