Fraser’s most recent victory came at the 2016 Maybank Championship. Like Molinari, the Australian is dragging a string of recent missed cuts behind him although he delivered a solid game last week at the Irish Open and accomplished what McIlroy couldn’t. He played the weekend and picked up a check.
Fraser has a game in his bag. He delivered it at the 2016 Hong Kong Open, the 2017 WGC-Mexico Championship, and with a top-5 finish in Sicily at the Rocco Forte Open. He represented Australian in the Rio Olympic men’s stroke play competition and delivered a T5 finish there as well.
The Scottish Open hasn’t been a regular stop of Fraser’s schedule and there’s no question that I’m taking a risk with him. But he fits my budget in terms of salary and he’s shown enough game to justify the pick.
