Let’s play a word association game. I say, “TPC Sawgrass”. You say “17th green” every single time, don’t you? Of course you do.

The island green at the tail end of this Pete Dye classic is one of the most famed holes in the world, and for good reason. The home course of the PGA TOUR, TPC Sawgrass has hosted The PLAYERS championship every year since 1982. In all those years, thousands of balls have found their way to the bottom of the surrounding water. Probably tens of thousands more are abandoned to a watery grave by tourists, as the Stadium Course is open to the public outside of PLAYERS week.

Still, no discussion of the greatest holes in golf – par-3 or otherwise – would be complete without the 17th at Sawgrass. The hole has been replicated dozens of times but never truly duplicated. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then TPC Sawgrass is home to the most loved hole in all of golf.
