RBC Canadian Open

I wonder if Hudson Swafford, Brandon Hagy, Kevin Chappell, Matt Every, and Ollie Schniederjans got together in the locker room early Thursday morning and plotted out a shared game plan. They all carded 7-under 65s and have set a brisk pace at the RBC Canadian Open.

Acttually, the first round hasn’t been completed. There were weather problems at Glen Abbey and the grounds crew are working hard to keep the course playable:

A lot of good vibes from this place – Schniederjans

The Canadian Open has a special place in Ollie Schniederjans’ heart. He made his pro debut here in 2015 and finished inside the top-10.  Now he knows the Glen Abbey track and feels at home here. There’s no question that he’d like to hold on to his early edge over the field.

Bubba Watson’s not been enjoying a particularly good season but he carded a 6-under first round. Maybe it’s because he’s part-Canadian? Does marrying a Canadian really make you part-Canadian?

Dustin Johnson, who got pushed off the top of the FedEx Cup rankings by Jordan Spieth last week, pulled a Seve. He found the parking lot with his tee shot on the par-4 10th hole. Then there was the rain delay. Then there was a car blocking his otherwise straight shot to the green.

Despite his tribulations DJ finished his round at 5-under so he’s just two shots back going into the second round.

The incomplete first round will resume at 6:30am Friday and the second round will follow immediately. PGA TOUR LIVE begins streaming coverage at 7am and Golf Channel will begin live broadcast coverage at 3pm. All times are ET.
