And then there is The Spartan.

More from Pro Golf Now

San Jose State University’s My Leander is the 2016-2017 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year.

Leander was also named WGCA Honorable Mention All-American honoree during this past NCAA season.

Her summer has already seen some quality golf. The up-and-coming Swedish golfer was a Top 10 finisher at the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship, and currently sits ranked No. 42 in the WAGR rankings.

Leander needs to carry her momentum towards Scotland.

She will be one of the final golfers to tee off on Thursday. Does the late start help or hurt?

If she can keep her wits about her, this San Jose State Spartan could be a darkhorse.
