Austin Ernst wanted this opportunity in 2015 and she’s worked hard to get on Team USA. She’s an aggressive, determined, gritty competitor. I think she’ll perform well no matter who she’s paired with.
Ernst has represented the United States in the Curtis Cup and the Spirit International and she played two years for the LSU Tigers. That’s some good match play experience that she can draw on at Des Moines.
The South Carolinian has a solid tee-to-green game but she’s going to need to tighten up her putting if she hopes to put a point or two on the board for Team USA.
I can see successful pairings with Brittany Lang and Lizette Salas, two players who can settle Ernst and keep her power focused.
