Short courses are some of the world’s best places to play golf. Pine Hollow in Maine may be one of the most beautiful in the country.

We always tend to put so much energy into the full-length, 18 hole courses. However, some of the best courses in the world are affordable par-3 tracks. Pine Hollow, also known as the “Little Par Three”, is a hidden gem of a course located in Sanford, Maine. It’s a pitch & putt style of track, that has been in operation for over 50 years.

As we know, Maine is no stranger to beautiful golf courses. The breathtaking Sugarloaf Golf Course always takes the cake (did I mention it’s open to the public?) with its stunning mountain vistas, especially in the fall.

What makes Pine Hollow so beautiful is its seclusion, and how it brings you closer to nature. That’s one of the things that made the world famous Pine Valley such a pretty place.

Pine Hollow does something similar. Outside, it’s a simple road, with a couple of homes and businesses. Inside though, you’re brought into a world of beautiful trees, covering the course with shadows.

The 18-hole pitch & putt also has some nice design features. Some of the holes have bunkers on either side of the green, while some are bunkerless.

This makes the course fun to play for everybody while tossing in a sprinkle of strategy and challenge. With its fun mixture of design and beauty, Pine Hollow had its first tournament back in June, showing that it’s a fun course for competition.

One of the best things about Pine Hollow and any par-3 course is that you don’t need as many clubs. At the “Little Par Three”, all you really need is a sand wedge, pitching wedge and a putter. If you want a little extra power, grab that lucky 9-iron of yours and get out there.

Another cool thing is that if your game is rusty, you can talk to the operator and PGA Professional, Mark L’Heureux about lessons. In short, Pine Hollow is a small course that packs a big punch of fun.

It presents some fun design elements while also providing the simple joys and fresh air and nature. It’s a quick, affordable and accessible place to enjoy some golf

Pine Hollow Golf Course may not only be one of the most beautiful par-3 courses in the country but possibly in the world. Now grab your short irons and tee it up, it’s time to play.
