Paul Casey has been an absolute revelation over the last three years on the PGA TOUR. That doesn’t sound like the type of thing you say about a guy who just turned 40 back in July, but it’s true. A life-long European Tour specialist, Casey has done almost everything you can do on the PGA TOUR in recent years, except one thing…win.

I’m a firm believer that that trend will end, and it could happen sooner than we think. Like, “this week” soon. Why is that? It’s simple, really – Casey is on fire recently, and there’s only one other guy in this field who’s been playing as well recently. But more on that later.

Casey finished out the 2016-17 season about as well as he could without winning the FedEx Cup. He finished in the top five in three of four FedEx Cup Playoff events, including solo fifth in the TOUR Championship, where he shot a final-round 73. For the season, he ranked third in greens in regulation, and fifth in adjusted scoring – a solid combination no matter where you’re playing.

Casey will take that combo to Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club this week, looking to improve on back-to-back top-25 finishes in the co-branded Asian/PGA Tour event. This could be a big year for Casey, and a big finish this week will go a long way toward that goal.
