There are some question marks with this pick, but Walker is one of the more talented players in the field and this is the time of year he shines. With that said, this is the 38-year-old Texan is making his first start since missing the cut at The Northern Trust in August. Walker’s had an intermittent schedule this season due to Lyme disease, which he’s been fighting admirably according to recent reports.

It’s hard to say where his game at and what his goals are for this week, but he’s picked a good week, historically, to get back on the horse. After missing the cut each of his first three trips to TPC Summerlin, he finally seems to have this place solved: T10 in 2012, T12 in 2013, T4 in 2014, T50 in 2015 and an MC last year (a week after playing in China, grant you).

The fall and winter portions of the schedule is where Walker historically shines. I envision him gaining steam as he gets back into playing shape, but he’s good enough to post a high finish right off the bat this week. Walker was 19th last year in strokes gained approaching-the-green. Everyone will be hitting a lot of greens this week, so he who can knock it close will have an edge on speedy greens.
