ANTALYA, TURKEY – NOVEMBER 02: Bernd Wiesberger of Austria hits his second shot on the 1st hole during the first round of the Turkish Airlines Open at the Regnum Carya Golf /

Bernd Wiesberger has had a stellar 2017. He picked up a win in the spring at the Shenzhen International and is cashing sizable checks almost everywhere he goes.

The 32-year-old Austrian tied for ninth recently at the WGC-HSBC Champions for his sixth top-10 of the year. Wiesberger’s missed the cut just three times in 26 starts.

At his last appearance at the Nedbank, Wiesberger tied for 25th/30 in 2015 and had a topsy turvy week with scores of 68 and 81 as part of his 72-hole total.

Checking in at No. 8 in GIR and No. 7 in driving accuracy on the European Tour ranks, this week sets up well for Wiesberger despite much of a past resume in South Africa. It’s been a while since Wiesberger threatened the lead on Sunday but he’s shown he’s not too far off, either.

Wiesberger sits just under €153,000 behind 10th in the Race to Dubai and could vault up with a high finish this week or next.
