European Tour: DP World Tour Championship top 10 power rankings
Bernd Wiesberger has aged like a fine wine at the DP World Tour Championship. Here are his past results: T42 in 2012, T34 in 2013, T16 in 2014, T17 in 2015 and T4 in 2016.
Wiesberger’s posted par or better in 12 straight rounds at the Earth Course, nine of which were in red figures. He was four shots off the winning pace last year.
The 32-year-old Austrian hopes his strong play in Dubai will help him improve from an OK start to the Race to Dubai Final Series. Wiesberger tied for 48th at the Turkish Airlines Open and tied for 19th at last week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge. Wiesberger was the first-round leader last week before dropping back.
Not far in the rearview is a T9 finish against a strong field at the WGC-HSBC Champions.
Wiesberger is pretty straight off the tee (37th in accuracy) and hits plenty of greens (31st in GIR). As long as he’s hitting the right portion of these undulating greens (168th putts per GIR), he should be in for a good week as he tries to climb inside the top 10 in the Race to Dubai.
