European Tour: UBS Hong Kong Open top 10 power rankings
Paul Dunne was in the mix to win last week in Dubai until a troublesome final round. The 24-year-old Irishman entered three behind Justin Rose and two behind eventual champion Jon Rahm. A double bogey on the par-5 second quickly derailed his title chances and he couldn’t recover en route to a T25.
Nonetheless, Dunne still carded three subpar rounds on the week. Like Li, he’s having himself a stellar sophomore season.
Dunne won his maiden European Tour event at the Rolex Series’ British Masters in September. He followed with a T7 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and hasn’t finished outside the top 40 since. He was inside the top 30 in each of the three Race to Dubai Final Series events but couldn’t quite get over the hump to get in contention.
He’s been getting it done with the flat stick this year. Dunne is fourth in putts per GIR and third in putts per round. Those backing him will hope hitting less than driver will help Dunne find more fairways as he’s 226th in driving accuracy.
If he’s in trouble off the tee or approaching the green, Dunne is 13th in scrambling.
