Sometimes, as a fantasy golf player, you come across a tournament that fits a player so perfectly, you’d be crazy not to play them. This is one of those weeks, and Rory McIlroy is that guy.

More from Pro Golf Now

Rory McIlroy’s history at Quail Hollow is well-documented, but in case you’re new to the game, here’s the “Cliffs Notes” version. McIlroy owns the course record at Quail Hollow, a 61 he shot in the third round here in 2015. That broke the previous course record set in 2010 – also by McIlroy, that time in the final round of his first career PGA TOUR win.

It’s no surprise, then, that McIlroy has made Quail Hollow a mainstay on his schedule. In seven starts – not counting last year’s PGA Championship – McIlroy has six top-ten finishes against just a single missed cut. Really, he might as well take up residence in Charlotte, with the way he seems to love this track.

Really, the only possible downside to picking McIlroy this week would be the idea that you’ll be matched at the top of the roster by most of the other players in your game. But considering his results here, would you rather be kicking yourself on Sunday afternoon as he hoists the trophy yet again?

I didn’t think so. We’ve got some solid picks on the lower end of the roster. Now isn’t the time to get “cute” with your salary. Spend the dough and reap the rewards.
