This will be Justin Rose’s first start at the Memorial in three years. Back injuries have hampered him in recent years, but after this last week, he’s never looked better.

Muirfield Village has treated Rose awfully kind over the years. The Englishman won by three in 2010, lost in a playoff in 2008 and 2015 and owns three more top-10s.

"“I like the fact that you can hit driver around here. You can get the ball in play off the tee, but then the golf course challenges you from there,” Rose said in 2010. “It’s a great second shot golf course. And I think it’s fantastic the way it’s set up. If you play well, you can shoot low. If you’re off your game in any sense, you can really run up some numbers too.”"

Good thing Rose is on top of his game.

He’s fresh off of a dominating win at the Fort Worth Invitational where he shredded Colonial to the tune of 66-64-66-64.

His first win of the season moved Rose to No. 3 in the world. Rose has four top-10 finishes in nine starts in 2018 and has yet to miss a cut and has finished outside the top 50 just once.

Rose is sixth in sand save percentage and 23rd in scrambling. Odds are he won’t need to work his magic around the greens all that often.

Rose is one of the more efficient players off the tee (15th in strokes gained) and is top 30 in proximity from the fairway and rough.

His putter can be inconsistent, but he’s 13th in strokes gained this season, too.

In a tournament filled with world beaters, Rose still seems like the clear choice until proven otherwise.
