Women’s Golf Day: PGA TOUR Superstores host free clinics June 5
Women’s Golf Day is coming up on June 5th, and PGA TOUR Superstores around the country are doing their part to help everyone get involved in this great sport.
It’s time to get your girlfriend, wife, sister or daughter off the sofa, off the phone and into golf. And here’s one way that you can do it at no cost. All 30 PGA Tour Superstores in 14 states will support Women’s Golf Day, Tuesday, June 5th, with a variety of activities designed to get women and girls more involved in the game, according to the company’s director of communications, Megan Mahoney.
If there is a potential female golfer in your family, this is the chance you have been waiting for to get her involved in the sport you love. Again, it’s free. And what’s better than that?
"“Our experiential retail model and associate expertise caters to women, from avid golfers to those just beginning to play,” said Matt Corey, the company’s chief marketing officer. “We will host a number of fun activities in our stores on Women’s Golf Day, and our free clinics will focus on the fundamentals of the game, including putting, chipping and full-swing.”"
All who participate will receive a voucher for a free 45-minute golf lesson with a member of the PGA Tour Superstore teaching staff for a date after Women’s Golf Day, according to PGA Tour Superstores. Lessons can include launch monitors, depending on the skill level of the participant. In addition, women will receive a 10 percent discount on purchases made that day.
"“PGA TOUR Superstore is committed to inspiring people to play their best and grow the game of golf,” Corey added. “We are dedicated to creating a fun experience in our stores to help women play their best, and offer the widest selection of apparel and equipment to help them enjoy this great game of golf.”"
The schedule of Women’s Golf Day events at each PGA Tour Superstore location store includes:
Putting & Full Swing Fundamentals Clinics from 4 to 5 PM or 6-7 PM; Social mixer with fun contests, food, & networking from 5-6 PM or 7-8 PM. Times may vary slightly by location, so check with the store nearest you.
In addition to carrying a wide variety of golf equipment, clothing and accessories for all golfers, PGA Tour Superstores now have virtual nine-hole leagues where league members play golf using in-store simulators. That means you can participate in golf even if you don’t have a golf course close to you or if you are not sure your game is ready for the outdoors.

While that may sound a little crazy to those of us who love to get out in the fresh air, the simulator craze has already overtaken a few countries.
Ten years ago in South Korea, for example, it was estimated that more than 200,000 played in simulator leagues. The number of simulator golf locations in that country has more than doubled, from an estimated 2,500 location in 2008 to at least 5,500 today, according to Morning Read.
Simulator golf is just beginning in the U.S., whereas it has already gained a strong following in other countries. Recently a high-end, simulator golf club called Konnect Golf opened in downtown New York City. It’s one way for people who can’t get to a course to at least get a start in the game.
Women’s Golf Day was founded by Elisa Gaudet in 2016 to introduce women of all ages to golf. In the inaugural year, more than 400 locations and 20,000 women worldwide participated in the event. Registered sites were allowed to create their own programs or provide instruction or just have a social occasion for women who had an interest in golf.

By 2017 the number increased to 711 locations, according to organizers, and that year PGA Tour Superstores became the official retail merchandiser for Women’s Golf Day and hosted events at the stores in 25 locations.
“As well as engaging with existing golfers, WGD provides the perfect opportunity to introduce female family and friends to the game,” said Elisa Gaudet, Women’s Golf Day founder. “We’re asking the established golfing community to call upon a friend or family member to find a WGD location near them and come and give golf a go for the first time. We have a real emphasis on ‘Bring A Friend’ because we know that women much prefer to experience events together.”
