Fantasy Golf: FedEx St. Jude Classic DraftKings Picks
I would argue that Phil Mickelson’s results this week in Memphis don’t matter one little bit to him. Everybody knows that his sights are already set squarely on Shinnecock Hills and the U.S. Open. And who could blame him? It’s the one tournament that has eluded his grasp all these years.

But that’s a story for another day. Notice, however, that I didn’t say that he doesn’t want to play well this week. Whether Mickelson wins or comes in 30th might not matter to him, but this is his tune-up for the U.S. Open. He needs to have his game dialed in. What’s the benefit for you, then? That focus usually translates to solid results.
If you thought I liked Berger’s history over the last two years, take a look at Lefty’s stats. Since adding Memphis back to his schedule in 2013 – in an attempt to change his U.S. Open prep, of course – Mickelson has an outstanding four top-ten finishes. In 2013 and 2016, he was the runner-up, and in 2015 he finished third. Wondering about the one finish outside the top ten? Mickelson tied for 11th in 2014 after shooting 72 that Sunday.
Maybe I’m just too big of a Phil Mickelson fan (guilty). Maybe I’m projecting forward to the U.S. Open just like he is. But with the way Phil is taking care of business this year in general, I’m more than happy to spend a premium price to have him on my team. You should be, too.
