Being in the east, it’s only a five-hour time difference, which is helpful in attracting more talent during a jam packed stretch on the schedule.
You can count on the RBC-sponsored guys being here this week (Brandt Snedeker, Matt Kuchar, Dustin Johnson, etc.), but some other major champions and top 10 players will be north of the border even without a sponsor obligation.
Players this week are taking on a 7,252-yard par-72 Jack Nicklaus design. The course is short enough where various types of players can win here: Plodders like Jim Furyk and Chez Reavie have prevailed as have bombers like Jason Day, Jhonattan Vegas, etc.
There are over 100 bunkers scattered across the course, several holes with water in play off the tee and some tricky spots around the greens.
Position off the tee is important this week in order to properly attack pins and keep approach shots out of tough areas around the green.
Plenty of rain is in the forecast this week, so expect the course to play soft. Hello, bombers.
