A handful of big names are sticking around this side of the pond one more week for the Porsche European Open in Germany

The best stretch of golf on the European Tour has concluded with last week’s Open Championship.

The Race to Dubai continues nonetheless, and fortunately a few big names have stuck around continental Europe to head east to Green Eagle Golf Course in Hamburg, Germany, for the Porsche European Open.

This event has been staged in England, Ireland and Scotland before settling in Germany in 2015. This is Green Eagle’s second time hosting in as many years.

Green Eagle plays to a par 72 at 7,582 yards. Without any elevation to speak of, this course plays long and is no pushover: Jordan Smith won at 13-under was one of just seven players to reach double digits deep.

There are large bunkers and water hazards that skirt the fairways, meaning accuracy off the tee is of value.

The weather forecast appears hot and dry, so perhaps the course will play firm and fast in turn.

With just one year of data at this course to work with, recent form weighs heavy this week.

There are only two players inside the top 25 of the Race to Dubai and three in the top 25 in the world, so don’t be surprised if a wild card emerges to win.
