Justin Thomas PGA Championship DraftKings Fantasy Golf

Let’s take a step back here for just a second. Justin Thomas is the No. 2-ranked player in the world today. He’s won three times this season (and came in second in Mexico after a 62-64 weekend). He cruised to victory on Sunday at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, shooting all four rounds at Firestone in the 60s.

And you’re going to tell me that not only isn’t he the most expensive player in the PGA Championship field on DraftKings this week, but he didn’t even crack the top five? There should be cartoon-y stock broker types yelling “BUY! BUY! BUY!” into early 1990’s brick-style cell phones right now.

JT comes into Bellerive with the sixth-highest fantasy salary on DraftKings, trailing Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Tiger Woods. I can make a case for any of those five guys to be a strong fantasy play this week, but what I can’t imagine is playing any of them (other than maybe DJ) over Thomas.

The only thing that would even make me consider passing on Thomas in every single one of my DraftKings lineups this week is the fact that anybody who’s paying any attention at all should be lining him up, too.

You lose some advantage when you take the most popular guy, but if Thomas maintains his recent form in his PGA Championship title defense, the points will be worth it. Remember, there are four other value picks in this very article you can use to separate yourself from the pack.

Don’t get too creative here and out-think yourself. Of all the top guys, I believe that Thomas has the potential to not only outperform his salary in a big way, but he could easily be the top scorer in all of fantasy golf at the PGA Championship. Ride the hot hand, and let it pay dividends for you.
