Wyndham Championship: Power ranking the Top 10 at Sedgefield

Matt Fitzpatrick would be on the bubble for making the playoffs if he were a full fledged PGA Tour member. He’s only got special temporary status, though, so this is him taking advantage of a sponsor’s exemption.

The talented 23-year-old Englishman is winless after claiming four trophies overseas from 2015-17. He’s still had some high finishes this season.

The former Northwestern Wildcat finished T3 against a strong field in Abu Dhabi, T8 at the European Tour’s flagship BMW PGA Championship and T12 at the U.S. Open. Fitzpatrick also made seven straight cuts from April through July.

This week is Fitzpatrick’s Wyndham Championship debut.

Fitzpatrick is accurate off the tee (70.96 percent fairways) and has a plus short game. Unless a ton of rain hits Greensboro, Sedgefield should be playing fast enough to keep a shorter hitter like Fitzpatrick very much in the ballgame.
