Hideto Tanihara is a proven winner on the Japan Tour looking to make a bigger splash in Europe.

The 39-year-old came close in his last worldwide start, tying for fifth a couple weeks ago at the Porsche European Open where he finished just two off the leader.

Tanihara has played all European Tour events this season and has made 11 of 15 cuts. He finished T5 at the Maybank Championship, T12 at the Indian Open and T9 at the Open de Espana.

Tanihara is a grinder, checking in at eighth in strokes gained around the green and 29th in scrambling. He’s also 36th in putts per round.

As long as he’s finding fairways, a short hitter like Tanihara can still have a good shot here in his Nordea Masters debut.
