There’s no sophomore slump for Matt Wallace. After breaking through for his first career European Tour win last year as a rookie, the Englishman continued his torrid pace last week with his third win this year.

More from Pro Golf Now

Wallace, 28, won earlier this year at the Hero Indian Open and BMW International Open. Most recently, he won a four-man playoff at the Made in Denmark to make his last ditch effort to impress captain Bjorn.

Whether he makes it as a Ryder Cup rookie or not, he’s becoming a star on the European Tour.

Wallace has been inside the top 20 in seven of 21 starts in 2018 and posted a T19 at the PGA Championship.

He tied for 70th last year in his debut at Crans-sur-Sierre.

Wallace is 19th on the European Tour in par-4 scoring, 31st in birdies per round, 42nd in strokes gained off the tee, 53rd in scrambling and 64th in strokes gained putting.

A win this week would be his strongest of the bunch. I envision him picking up No. 5 and making Bjorn and company sweat if he ends up getting left off the team.
