Tiger Woods continued to battle with his putter at the Dell Technologies Championship. Now he’ll look to bounce back at Aronimink.

Tiger Woods struggled at the Dell Technologies Championship over the holiday weekend. A poor start to the tournament on Friday doomed Tiger early on. Coupled with a poor finish on Monday, Tiger ended at 7 under for the tournament. Finishing at T-24, Woods endured back to back rough weeks after a T-40 at the Northern Trust.

The way Tiger started on Friday kept him out of any serious contention for winning the tournament. With three bogeys on his first seven holes, Tiger was instantly in a big hole.

Making the cut looked like it would be the goal for him over the weekend. With a lot of ground to make up, he pulled it together and finished at +1 for the day.

Saturday and Sunday were much closer to vintage Tiger. Nine birdies and just one bogey brought him back near the top of the leaderboard. Four of his birdies came on par-5’s, and it looked like old Tiger was hunting again. Labor Day started off hot as well. Tiger found himself at 9-under with 14 holes left. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

A run of pars saw Tiger slowly drift down the leader board. He played holes 5 through 13 in 1- under and it looked like a top-ten would be the best case scenario. Then, everything fell apart. Tiger bogeyed 14 and double bogeyed 16. Tiger played the first seven holes and last five holes of his week at 6-over par. He played everything in between at 13 under.

The contrast is incredible. This older Tiger has taken some time to warm up and really find a groove, but those misses cost him dearly at TPC Boston.

Normally, one of the areas that can be pinpointed when Tiger struggles is accuracy off the tee. He finished T-12 off the tee, playing well in that aspect of his game. The biggest negative impact this week was putting.

Tiger finished T-54 in putts per GIR, crushing his hopes of scoring well. For Tiger to comeback fully, he needs to fix the putter. 33 putts on Monday crushed any hopes he had.

Overall, Tiger looked good all around the course, but the putter was the main cause of his poor outing. With two events remaining in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and the Ryder Cup just around the corner, the mission is clear. If he can get that straightened out, look out for big things coming soon from one of the all-time greats.
