To Patton Kizzire’s credit, he’s one of nine players who have won multiple events in 2017-18. He’s among elite company that includes Bubba Watson, Justin Thomas, Justin Rose, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Francesco Molinari and Jason Day.

That’s about where the comparisons stop. Kizzire’s wins came almost a calendar year ago as he won the Mayakoba Golf Classic in November and the Sony Open in January. Not exactly world-beating events, either.

At 91st in the world, Kizzire is the lowest ranked player in the field as he makes his debut at East Lake.

Kizzire reached the Tour Championship namely off those two wins, but also for playoff results of T60-T71-T61 which earned him just enough points to grab the 30th spot. His best result since the Sony as a T12 at the WGC-Mexico.

This could be a long week for Kizzire, but he’s here, and all he has to worry about is taking care of business, and letting the rest of the chips fall where they may.
