Fantasy Golf: DraftKings picks for the 2019 RBC Heritage
By Hans Geevers
Fantasy golf enthusiasts get a return to “normal” this week, as the PGA Tour shifts to the RBC Heritage in South Carolina. With a hangover from the Masters potentially lingering at Harbour Town, these players could help you come out on top in your DraftKings contests.
Fantasy golf fanatics faced a unique challenge with last week’s Masters Tournament, which featured just 87 players. This week is a bit of a return to normalcy at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town. Due to its positioning on the schedule, DraftKings players will be presented with a somewhat weaker field as many elite golfers have decided to skip this event.
However, a few of the top players will be in the field. Dustin Johnson and Francesco Molinari are a few of the big names slated to play. The RBC Heritage is played on a par 71 that measures 7,099 yards. Unlike some events on Tour that have been played at multiple courses, this event has only been played on this course.
The fact that this event has only been played on one course provides daily fantasy golf players with plenty of past player statistics and course history at this event. This information will be very helpful to those constructing lineups for DraftKings contests this week.

The RBC provides a much different test to Tour players than last week’s event at Augusta National. However, I firmly believe that both courses favor the golfer that has a vast amount of course knowledge.
In my opinion, the winner of the 2019 RBC Heritage will be a player that has played this event multiple times. As I develop my player pools for DraftKings, I am also looking for players that have had previous success at the RBC Heritage.
Just for clarity, some events on Tour are played on relatively easy tracks. An example would be the Corales Puntacana event held in the Dominican Republic earlier this year. That event was played on a resort course that was a very easy test for PGA Tour players.
For that event and others like it, course history and knowledge is not a factor at all. However, the RBC Heritage presents a stiff challenge and is in stark contrast to the Corales event. Course history is essential for the RBC Heritage.
DraftKings Fantasy Golf Picks: 2019 RBC Heritage
Patrick Cantlay (9,700): Patrick Cantlay displayed some great golf at the Masters last week. After making the cut on the number, Cantlay’s game caught fire. He made a charge on the weekend, shooting 12 under par. I think his outstanding play continues this week.
He checks the box for course history and prior event performance. Cantlay has played this event twice. His previous results at the RBC Heritage are: 3rd in 2017, 7th in 2018.
Jim Furyk (9,400): Furyk certainly fits the narrative of a course horse. Furyk is a 2 time winner of the RBC Heritage. He also has an impressive 15 top 25 finishes at this event. In 2019, Furyk is also playing very good golf in 2019.
He was runner up at The Players in March. Furyk followed that up with an 18th at the Valspar and a 23rd at the Valero Texas Open. He currently is 12th in GIR and 10th in strokes gained approach on the PGA Tour.
Kevin Kisner (9,100): Kevin Kisner somehow still flies under the radar, even with eight straight top 30 finishes on Tour. He defeated Matt Kuchar to win the WGC Match Play earlier this month. Additionally, Kisner has made five straight cuts at the RBC. Kisner finished 7th at this event in 2018.
Lucas Glover (7,800): Lucas Glover has 10 top 20 finishes on the PGA Tour in 2019. He has been displaying the form that helped him win the U.S. Open in 2009. I am certainly not saying Glover is winning a major this year. However, his form is just fine for this event. I expect at least a top 25 from him this week.
Graeme McDowell (7,500): Graeme McDowell won the 2019 Corales Puntacana Championship in March. He followed that up with a 7th place finish at the Valero Texas Open. From a course history perspective McDowell checks the box as well. McDowell won the RBC Heritage in 2012.
If you are looking for lower priced golfers to complete your lineups I like the following:
Russell Henley (7,300)
Keith Mitchell (7,300)
Jonas Blixt (7,100)
Brian Stuard (6,700)
Good Luck!
