Many people believe there is such a thing as beginner’s luck. For James Adducci, he cashed in on his luck, possibly more so than anyone ever has. Adducci bet 85K on Tiger Woods to win The Masters, and ended up winning nearly $1.2 Million.

At 14-1, Tiger Woods was one of the most favored players to win The Masters. The number was much higher than it would be for any golfer, due to the amount of public money that flows in to Tiger Woods at the casinos. James Adducci affected that more than anyone else, moving the line from 14-1 to 10-1 after placing his bet.

Adducci had never made a bet in his life, according to him at least. When reached earlier this week and asked about the bet, Adducci was incredibly confident about the bet.

"“everything I had that I could afford to lose,” and place it on Tiger. Why? “I just thought it was pre-destined for him to win”"

It’s not like Adducci was rolling in money, and had the $85K to spare. In fact, he was in debt, and had a far amount to pay off. A mortgage on his house. Pair that with two car loans, and then two student loans, and he was taking quite the risk. This life-changing event is going to help him with that. Crazy enough, he had the full support of his wife, making the decision that much easier for him.

"“She said to me, ‘I can’t stop you from doing this, because if he wins, I’ll never forgive myself.’ She’s a keeper.”"

It took Adducci a while to find someone who would actually take the bet. After checking in with a couple of casinos, he ended up at a William Hill establishment, the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. After talking with some higher ups, they decided to in fact take the bet. What ended up happening was the largest payout on a sports bet in their golf betting history.

For many people during the round, watching the names on the leaderboard drop tee shots into Rae’s Creek on 12 was exciting. Brooks Koepka, Ian Poulter, Tony Finau, and Francesco Molinari. When Tiger Woods knocked his on the green instead, the win started to seem like a very realistic possibility.

As Tiger took the lead, Adducci knew he would have a real chance. Tiger ended up playing the rest of the course like the GOAT that he is, walking onto 18 needing a bogey to win the event. He did just that, playing the final hole ultra-safe. Tiger Woods final score of -13 at The Masters ended up netting Adducci around $1.19 million.

With a background in finance, he is going to pay off his debts, and then invest and grow the rest of the money. Having the confidence to make the bet that he did is one of the most incredible wagers I have ever heard of. Congratulations to James Adducci, as the only man that made more money than him concerning The Masters this week was the man he bet on, Tiger Woods.
