U.S. Open 2019: Power ranking the top 10 golfers at Pebble Beach
Rickie Fowler is at the top of the list as far as best without a major. He’d surely trade his ten top-tens in the majors for one victory.
He’s a runner up at the PGA Championship away from achieving the runner up career Grand Slam. He’s come close to breaking through this year, though. Fowler finished T9 at the Masters and T36 at the PGA.
He’s made 10 U.S. Open starts with a runner-up finish in 2014 and three more top-20s. He was T20 last year at Shinnecock.
Fowler’s also shown solid recent form with a T4 at Quail Hollow and T14 in his last start at the Memorial.
He has two appearances at Pebble Beach in the Pro-Am: A T27 in 2010 and MC in 2012.
Fowler ranks 13th in total strokes gained on Tour and is 56th or better in all categories.
He’s one of several Californians on this week’s power rankings and should be comfortable putting Pebble’s bumpy poa greens. He isn’t getting any of the press coming into this week, but don’t sleep on Rickie’s chances at his first major.
