Everyone has a bad round. In today’s golf news, we show you how no one ever treats it like Trey Bilardello.

It’s time to break from the British Open for some insane golf news. There is always some kind of interesting golf news on the internet. From the Master’s ticket scheme to the guy who made a huge bet on Tiger Woods to win the Masters. This though, this is completely different than anything you would expect.

On July 15-16 this week, there was a U.S. Amateur qualifier at Mayacoo Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Florida State Golf Association’s director of rules and competitions, Darin Green, shocked the world when he let it be known that Trey Bilardello shot an astounding 202 during his 18 holes.

Beth Major, the USGA’s senior director of championship communications, put out this statement about Bilardello’s round…

More from Pro Golf Now

"“The Florida State Golf Association, after consulting with the United States Golf Association, has disqualified Trey Bilardello under Rule 1.2 for serious misconduct and failing to play in the spirit of the game… “His disqualification was deemed appropriate as a result of the individual’s failure to show consideration for other players—deliberately playing away from the hole to run up his score.”"

Reportedly, Bilardello is a good golfer. He carries a 2.2 handicap and has posted multiple rounds in the 70’s during tournaments over the last couple of years. Things started okay for him, and then it went off the rails.

After going par-par to start, he made a triple bogey and followed it up with a 10. According to his playing partner Kristin Fortis, he just didn’t care.

"“He just started off like normal, he was actually not a bad golfer, and he hit some nice shots. He had two pars, and then it started to go a little downhill… “After the first nine, he said that he wanted to shoot the highest recorded score in USGA history, he just did not care. He was really rude to a lot of the officials, too. Something was off.”"

After the first nine holes were completed, then things took a turn that you would never expect. It wasn’t just that he was playing poorly, it was that he was doing it on purpose. Again, from Fortis.

"“He would chip shots and scoot his ball around on the tee box just to add strokes, and then he would just pipe a 2-iron down the middle of the fairway, hit it on the green and then just scoot his ball around again with his putter, he’d be right next to the hole and then I guess he’d think to himself that he didn’t have enough strokes and he’d hit his ball in the opposite direction of the hole.”"

According to Golf Digest, who talked with the tournament about the event, Bilardello was actually suspended last month from the Minor League Golf Tour for detrimental conduct, including damaging property on courses on two different occasions.

I’ve seen some bad scores in my day, but I have never seen or heard of anything like this. It shows incredibly poor sportsmanship. There are other people out there, and poor play almost always affects the people that are playing around the said player.

Trey Bilardello definitely wants a mulligan. Thankfully for this edition of golf news, he wasn’t able to take one.
