In Draftkings this week, the PGA Tour travels to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship. This is the last regular-season event on the schedule prior to the start of the FedEx playoffs.

As we get into another week of Draftkings selections, let’s take some time to look at the course. The Wyndham Championship will be played at Sedgefield Country Club. This golf course is a classic Donald Ross design.  The track is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,200 yards. This course features pure Bermuda greens and fairways.

The Wyndham Championship has been played at Sedgefield Country Club every year since 2008. This gives DFS players an abundance of previous course history to evaluate as they construct player pools for Draftkings contests.

Previous winning scores at this event suggest that scoring will NOT be a problem for Tour players this week. Just to provide some clarity to that statement, let’s take a look at last year. In 2018, Brandt Snedeker won the Wyndham Championship with a winning score of nineteen under par.

I should also note that for this week’s tournament I will be focusing on golfers that perform well putting on Bermuda greens. The PGA Tour only has a few tournaments on the schedule with Bermuda greens.

A few examples of tournaments that offer Bermuda greens on the PGA Tour are the FedEx St. Jude Invitational (TPC Southwind),  the Sanderson Farms Championship (Country Club of Jackson), and the AT&T Byron Nelson Invitational (Trinity Forest Golf Club).

Another point that I feel is important to note this week is that this event’s field of golfers is rather weak. Several of the elite players on the PGA tour are skipping this event to prepare for the FedEx playoffs. Keep that in mind as you generate DFS lineups for your Draftkings contests.

The statistics I am looking at for this week’s event are GIR (greens in regulation), strokes gained putting, proximity to the hole, and birdie or better percentage.

Let’s shift gears to my picks! Here are my Draftkings selections for the Wyndham Championship.

Webb Simpson (11,200)

Webb has played some consistent quality golf this year. An illustration of Simpson’s consistency is his ability to make cuts on the PGA Tour. Webb has made 15 of 16 cuts this year. From a Draftkings perspective, finding golfers like Webb, that are consistent cut makers is a good thing.

Now let’s take a look at some of Webb’s outstanding tournament results in 2019. Webb finished 16th at The Players Championship in March, an impressive fifth place at the Masters in April, in a tie for second at the RBC Canadian Open in June, and finished solo second at last week’s FedEx Saint Jude invitational.

As far as previous course history goes, Webb certainly checks that box. Since the Wyndham Championship began playing at the Sedgefield Country Club in 2008, Simpson has six top 10  finishes, including a win in 2012. That is very impressive. I think it is crystal clear that Simpson loves this golf course.

I recognize that Simpson is the highest priced Draftkings golfer at $11,200. However, sometimes in DFS golf you just have to eat the chalk. For me, this is one of those weeks. Webb just has too much win equity for me to fade him in this event.

Brandt Snedeker (10,000)

If you are looking for the player that fits this week’s course horse narrative, look no further than Brandt Snedeker.  Since 2014, Snedeker has played this event four times. In those four appearances, he has an outstanding three top-five finishes including a win in 2018.

It also has to be said that Snedeker holds the course record at Sedgefield Country Club. Brandt fired a first-round 59 in the 2018 Wyndham Championship.

I don’t think I need to make it too complicated here. I clearly love Snedeker on this golf course. I expect him to be in contention in Sunday’s final round.

Peter Malnati (7,100)

Dropping down in Draftkings price, you can find some value. My top play for the lower price range is Peter Malnati. Malnati has been a rather consistent player on Tour this year. Malnati has made nine consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour.

Additionally, Malnati has competed at the Wyndham Championship four times since the event has been played at Sedgefield Country Club. He has made the cut every time including a top 25 finish in last year’s event.

He also has some quality results on Tour in 2019. Malnati finished in 16th place at the RBC Heritage during April, 17th at the Memorial in May, and 29th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June.

I think Malnati has a real chance of contending in this tournament’s relatively weak field.

If you are looking for lower-priced players to complete your lineups that I like to make the cut and possibly top 20:

Nick Taylor (6,800)

Has made seven consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour. He finished in eighth place at the 2018 Wyndham Championship.

Johnson Wagner (6,600)

He finished in 25th place at last week’s Barracuda Championship. Wagner has two top 25 finishes at the Wyndham Championship since 2016.

Richy Werenski (6,500)

Werenski has made five of his last six cuts on Tour. He finished 24th at the Barbasol Championship earlier this month.

Good luck this week! Enjoy the 2019 Wyndham Championship!
