Fantasy golf enthusiasts enjoy one of the most competitive tournaments of the year this week, as 70 golfers head to Medinah for the 2019 BMW Championship. Here’s who we’re targeting for our DraftKings roster.

This week, we are presented with the second tournament in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the BMW Championship. Due to the fact that this is such a big event, DraftKings will have a large number of contests for the daily fantasy golf community.

Let’s take a look at the golf course these elite golfers will be playing before I dive into my DraftKings selections.

The 2019 BMW Championship will be played at Medinah Country Club (Course three). This track is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,613 yards. This is a tree lined course where accuracy off the tee is certainly an advantage. However, the rough is not overly penal. My point is simply that these outstanding professional golfers should not have a problem with the rough at Medinah.

The length of this golf course does suggest that driving distance is of importance this week. In my opinion, if you can’t consistently hit the golf ball approximately 300 yards off the tee, you are at a substantial disadvantage on this track.

The BMW Championship rotates to different venues each year. Due to this fact, you won’t find a great deal of course history to evaluate as you construct player pools for DraftKings contests. However, the 2008 PGA Championship and the 1999 PGA Championship were both played on this golf course.

It has to be said that the winner of the 1999 and 2008 PGA Championship was none other than Mr. Tiger Woods. As of this writing, I am unsure if Tiger will be in the field this week. It is interesting that he won two major championships on this track.

If you are considering placing Tiger in your DraftKings lineup this week, well, I wish you luck with that decision. The questions you have to ask yourself are simple. If Tiger is in the field this week, is he really fully healthy? Does he have a realistic chance to win this event?

I should also note that the 2012 Ryder Cup was played at this golf course. If you desire to review which golfers performed well that week, you certainly can do so.

This tournament is of course composed of the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup rankings. The BMW Championship will not have a traditional cut after two rounds.

The statistics that I will be focusing on this week are: driving distance, driving accuracy, strokes gained tee to green and GIR (greens in regulation).

Okay, let’s shift our focus to my player selections. Here are my DraftKings picks for the BMW Championship.

Patrick Reed (9,600)

The man known as Captain America is leading my DraftKings player picks for the BMW Championship. It has to be said that Patrick Reed played some outstanding golf in New York last week. His great play helped him capture his first PGA Tour win since the 2018 Masters Tournament.

I loved what I saw from a statistical perspective as I reviewed the Northern Trust player data. Reed ranked first in driving accuracy (78.6%). Additionally, he was fifth in the Northern Trust field in GIR (greens in regulation) at a 70.8% clip for the week.

As far as overall recent form goes, Reed certainly checks that box as well. Prior to last week’s win at Liberty National, Reed was doing very well in tournament play. Let me clarify that statement with facts. Prior to the Northern Trust, Reed had accumulated five consecutive top 25 finishes.

In that stretch of five tournaments I just noted, Reed finished 10th at the Open Championship in Ireland. That is an outstanding result in a major championship.

Reed is a man that loves United States team events. Believe it or not, he has not yet qualified for the 2019 Presidents Cup team. I can assure you that Patrick Reed is highly motivated to make that team. He does not want to be a Captain’s pick.

Bottom line is this, I love Reed to perform at a high level this week. I think he has the mentality of a Tour professional that can get back to back wins in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

I should also note that DraftKings has priced Patrick Reed at only $9,600. I personally think that is under priced. For me, he clearly presents outstanding value from a DFS perspective.

Brandt Snedeker (8,100)

Brandt Snedeker clearly played some quality golf at the Northern Trust. He fired a third round 63 and eventually finished the event in sixth place. In my opinion, Snedeker’s overall performance at Liberty National Golf Club was quite impressive.

Brandt arrives to Medinah in very good form. Let’s look at a few of Snedeker’s results prior to last week’s Northern Trust. Snedeker started his summer campaign with a fourth place finish at the RBC Heritage. He followed up that result with a fifth place finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June.

It should also be noted that Brandt finished in fifth place at the Players in March. The Players is played on a very difficult golf course (TPC Sawgrass) and always has the most elite players in the world in the field.

Brandt is not the type of player that will have statistics that will pop off the page. However, Snedeker is currently ranked third on the PGA Tour in strokes gained around the green. I think his scrambling ability will suit him well on this track.

Additionally, Brandt ranks 12th on the PGA Tour in total birdies made (341). I think that Medinah will have receptive conditions due to the heavy rain that is in the forecast. In my opinion, for a player to be successful this week, he will need to be able to score.

If you are looking for lower priced players to complete your BMW Championship lineup I like the following to provide some solid value at bargain-basement prices. Nobody in this field is a scrub, so you’ll have your pick of solid players on the lower end this week and next.

Abraham Ancer (7,700)

Ancer played some unbelievable golf under big time pressure at Liberty National last week. He finished in a tie for second at the Northern Trust. Additionally, he finished eighth at the Travelers Championship in June.

Sungjae Im (7,200)

In my opinion, this gentleman is one of the most elite pure talents on the PGA Tour. He finished sixth at the Wyndham championship earlier this month. I personally think he has the ability to win a tournament with an elite field. He presents outstanding value at a Draftkings price of $7,200.

Lucas Glover (7,100)

I am willing to take a chance on Glover at a DraftKings price of only $7,100. The 2009 United States Open Champion has had an outstanding 2019. Recent impressive results on Tour include a seventh place finish at the 3M Open and a 10th place at the John Deere Classic.

Corey Conners (6,600)

Won the Valero Texas Open earlier this year. Arrives at Medinah Country Club on the heels of three consecutive top 30 finishes.

As always, Good Luck this week! Enjoy the 2019 BMW Championship.
