Jason Day – 50/1 – 50th in FedEx Cup Standings

Jason Day is looking to make it to the final round of the FedEx Cup playoffs for the 7th year in a row. Going backward, he has finished 16th, 18th, 6th, 3rd, 10th, and 17th.

That’s pretty consistent, as he has finished no worse than 18th since 2013. Currently, he is in 50th place and 235 points back of 30th place. This means that he needs to get at least 13th place (240 points) at the BMW Championship.

He has played well here in the past as well. Going backward once again, T-24th, 4th, WD, 1st, WD, and T-4th. Day dealt with some vertigo issues in the past, but those are gone now, and I don’t think that the WD needs to be something we worry about.

One thing that will be interesting to watch with Day is that he recently parted with his caddie, Stevie Williams. He is going to have his friend, and fellow pro, David Lutterus on the bag at the BMW Championship.

One area of play Day is going to be able to take advantage of is his SG off the tee, where he currently ranks 8th on the PGA. He also ranks in well in GIR, hitting 69.54%, good enough for 19th on tour.

If Day can put together his driving, GIR, and being more comfortable with a new caddie, I see no reason not to take Day to finish top ten, with a legit chance at winning this event that he has played so well at in the past.
