This week, the European Tour travels to Surrey, England. Draftkings Fantasy Golf will offer a large number of contests for one of the European Tour’s most prestigious events, the BMW PGA Championship.

Before I discuss my Fantasy Golf Draftkings selections let’s take a look at the golf course the field will contend with this week and my key statistics for this event.

This tournament will be played at Wentworth West. This golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,284 yards. This track is a classical golf course with tree-lined fairways. This course’s defense is wind. When the wind blows Wentworth West is a very difficult test.

It should be noted that the weather forecast looks good though Sunday. Wind and rain do not appear to be a factor this week. Additionally, sunshine looks to be plentiful this week and the weather leading up to this event in England has been fairly dry. So look for firm and fast conditions all week.

Based on my review of previous results at this event, it became apparent to me that the most important statistic to focus on this week as you compile DFS player pools for Fantasy Golf Draftkings contests is without a doubt GIR (greens in regulation).

Let me elaborate on the GIR statistical importance in more detail. Last year, the top six finishers of this tournament finished in the top eight in the field in GIR for the four-day event. Clearly, pounding greens in regulation are of the highest importance this week if a golfer hopes to be in contention on Sunday afternoon.

My key statistics for this event are GIR (greens in regulation), strokes gained approach and scrambling.

Henrik Stenson $9,700

If you are looking for a strong iron player to fit a narrative this week than look no further than Henrik Stenson. Stenson is known as one of the best ball strikers in the world.

In his last event played (Scandinavian Invitation in August), Stenson led the entire tournament field in GIR. Stenson hit a very impressive 86.1% of his greens in regulation.

Just to further validate my point, Stenson also led the field in GIR at the 2019 Scottish Open in July. He hit 91.7% of his greens in regulation! Henrik also finished the 2018-2019 PGA Tour season as the leader in strokes gained approach. For me, when Stenson is on his game, he is no doubt one of the best strikers of the golf ball on the planet.

Let’s take a quick look at a few of Stenson’s outstanding results on the PGA Tour in 2019. He finished 20th at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May, ninth at the United States Open in June, and 20th at the Open Championship in July.

It should also be noted that Stenson has performed well at the BMW PGA Championship in the past. Henrik finished third at this event in 2017 and seventh in 2014.

From a DFS strategy standpoint, I think starting your Fantasy Golf lineups with Stenson is a smart play. Henrik arrives on the slate at a Draftkings price of $9,700. In my opinion, he presents outstanding value and wins equity at that price.

Marcus Kinhult $7,400

This talented young golfer has performed rather well in 2019. Kinhult secured his first European Tour win at the 2019 British Masters in May. More recently, Kinhult has two consecutive outstanding results on the European Tour.

Kinhult’s results in his last two events are 20th at the Scandinavian Invitation and 12th at the Omega European Masters.

Additionally, I like the fact that Kinhult has performed well at the Wentworth West course in the past. Kinhult finished 12th in last year’s BMW PGA Championship.

If you are looking for lower-priced golfers to complete your Fantasy Golf lineups I like the following to make the cut and possibly top 25.

Sam Horsfield $7,200

He has made five consecutive cuts on the European Tour. He finished 15th at the 2018 BMW PGA Championship.

Mikko Korhonen $7,000

Korhonen won the Volvo China Open in May of this year. He has made six consecutive cuts on the European Tour.

Ashley Chesters $7,000

Chesters ranks fifth on the European Tour in driving accuracy. He has three top 18 finishes in his last five European Tour events.

Matthew Southgate $6,900

He has two top 10 finishes in his last four events on the European Tour. Southgate finished 27th at the BMW PGA Championship last year.
