The PGA Tour travels to Mississippi for the Sanderson Farms Championship. Let’s take a look at this event from a Fantasy Golf perspective!

Before I get into my Fantasy Golf Draftkings picks, let’s take a quick at the golf course the field will be playing and the key statistics I will be focusing on for this week’s event.

The 2019 Sanderson Farms Championship will be played at the Country Club of Jackson. This track is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,421 yards. This tournament has been played at the Country Club of Jackson for the past six years.

This track is a resort golf course. Fantasy Golf and DraftKings players should expect a winning score in the 20 under par range (unless weather becomes a factor). This course features large green complexes. Additionally, the greens are Champion Bermuda grass.

In my opinion, identifying golfers that have performed well on champion Bermuda grass previously is a good idea as you determine which players you would like to place in your Fantasy Golf lineup this week. Based on my review of previous statistics of players who performed well at this event in the past, I strongly believe that strokes gained putting is the most important key statistic for this tournament.

The key statistics I will be looking at this week are strokes gained putting, GIR (greens in regulation), and strokes gained approach.

Roberto Castro $7,400

Clearly, Roberto Castro is comfortable at the Country Club of Jackson. First of all, Castro owns the Country Club of Jackson’s course record. He shot a 62 in the first round of the 2015 Sanderson Farms Championship.

Additionally, Castro has some outstanding results at the Sanderson Farms Championship in previous years. He has played this event three times. Castro has made the cut in all three events. He has two top-five finishes in those three starts at the Sanderson Farms. Castro finished fourth at this event in 2015 and fifth in last year’s tournament.

He arrives at this tournament in decent form as well. Castro has made six straight cuts on the PGA Tour. He was fifth after two rounds in last week’s A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. He faded in the last two rounds settling for a 57th place finish.

I am not concerned about his recent result at the Greenbrier. In my opinion, the Greenbrier course does not suit Castro’s game like the Country Club of Jackson does. For me, I look at last week as a positive. I certainly did not expect Castro to be in in fifth place going into the weekend at the Greenbrier.

I also like the fact that Castro has always performed well at the Wyndham Championship. The Wyndham Championship is played on a golf course that correlates well with the Country Club of Jackson. Additionally, the Wyndham Championship is one of the few stops on the PGA Tour that is held on a golf course that features champion Bermuda grass greens.

Let me provide some of Castro’s specific previous quality results at the Wyndham Championship: 20th in 2016, 28th in 2017, and fifth in 2018.

I love Castro’s Draftkings price of $7,400. In my opinion, Castro presents great value at such a low price point.

Nick Taylor $8,300

The 31-year-old Canadian is another player that appears to love the Sanderson Farms Championship. I make that statement based on Taylor’s previous results at this tournament.

Let’s take a quick look at Taylor’s previous results at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He won this tournament in 2015, finished 20th in 2016, and followed up that result with a 23rd place finish in 2017.

I also like the look of Taylor’s recent form. He finished 24th in last week’s A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. What really impressed me was the way Taylor finished the Greenbrier. He shot a 65 in the final round.

I think Taylor’s quality play continues this week. I fully expect Taylor to be on the front page of the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon.

If you are looking for lower-priced golfers to complete your lineups I like the following to make the cut and possibly top 25.

Patrick Rodgers $7,100

Rodgers has two previous top 20 finishes at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He finished 14th in last year’s event.

Brandon Hagy $6,800

Hagy has performed well at the Sanderson Farms Championship in the past. He finished 14th in 2017 and 18th in 2018.

Seamus Power $6,600

He has made five of his last six cuts on the PGA Tour. Power has three consecutive top 30 finishes at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Jonathan Byrd $6,500

Since 2014, Byrd has four top 40 finishes at the Sanderson Farms Championship.  He finished 15th at the Barracuda Championship in July.

Next. A Big Change I would like to see to the FedEx Cup. dark

As always, good luck this week with your Fantasy Golf Picks!
