This week, the European Tour provides fantasy golf players with the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. This tournament is unique due to the fact that it is played on three different golf courses.

Ok. Before I get into my Fantasy Golf/Draftkings selections for the week, let’s discuss this tournament’s format and the key statistics I am focusing on for this event.

As I mentioned previously, this event is quite different from other tournaments on the European Tour. Let me elaborate in more detail. First of all, this event has 168 golfers in the field. Most events on the European Tour have a field of 132-156 players.

Additionally, this tournament does NOT have a cut that is the top 65 and ties after two rounds like the majority of events on the European Tour schedule. This event has a cut of the top 60 and ties after two rounds.

This event is played on three golf courses over the course of four days. For those golfers that make the cut, two of the four rounds will be at St. Andrews.

This is certainly a difficult test from a Fantasy Golf/DraftKings perspective. Why do I say that? Well, you have a very large field of 168 golfers and a cut line that is the top 60 and ties. Quite simply, getting six golfers that all make the cut in your DFS lineup is going to be that much more difficult than your traditional golf tournament.

The key statistics I am focusing on for this tournament are strokes gained approach, GIR (greens in regulation), and scrambling.

Let’s turn our attention to what I love doing the most! Here are my Fantasy Golf/DraftKings Selections for the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Tommy Fleetwood $10,400

Due to this tournament’s format, I don’t think it is wise to get cute with the golfer that is anchoring your fantasy golf lineup this week. I am highly focused on course form combined with recent form as I evaluate players for my player pool.

Having said that, I am leading my picks with Tommy Fleetwood. For my money, Fleetwood is the most talented overall golfer in this field. Additionally, Fleetwood loves playing links golf.

If you need facts to back up my statement regarding Fleetwood’s ability to perform on links golf courses I can certainly provide that.

Ok. Fleetwood finished runner up at the 2019 Open Championship. It has to be said that he finished runner up on a very difficult golf course in a tournament with the most talented golfers in the world. That is impressive.

This week, Fleetwood will be playing in a field of talent not even remotely close to that of the 2019 Open Championship. Additionally, the layout of the golf courses he will be playing this week will be far easier than the Open Championship.

If you are concerned with tournament form, don’t be. Fleetwood has played this event eight times. He has an outstanding four top-five finishes in those eight starts. Fleetwood has also never missed the cut at this tournament.

I fully expect Fleetwood to perform at a high level this week. I am backing Tommy Fleetwood with absolute confidence this week.

I recognize that Fleetwood arrives on the slate at a DraftKings price of $10,400. I think he is worth every penny.

If you are looking for lower-priced golfers to complete your Fantasy Golf/DraftKings lineup I like the following to make the cut and possibly top 25.

Marcus Kinhult $7,700

Kinhult has made seven of his last eight cuts on the European Tour. He won the British Masters in May of this year.

Tom Lewis $7,600

This talented young British golfer recently obtained his PGA Tour card by winning the 2019 Korn Ferry Championship in September. Additionally, Lewis finished 10th at the 2018 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Ross Fisher $7,500

He has made three straight cuts on the European Tour. Fisher fits the narrative of a course horse. He finished runner up at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2016 and 2017.

Joakim Lagergren $7,300

Joakim finished fourth in the 2016 and 2017 Alfred Dunhill Links Championships. He arrives at this event on the heels of three consecutive top 24 finishes on the European Tour.

James Morrison $6,900

Morrison finished fourth at the KLM Open earlier this month. He has three previous top 25 finishes at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

As always, good luck to all of you with your fantasy golf selections this week, and to those playing as well.
