Shriners Hospitals for Children Open: PGN Staff Picks
Next up on the PGA Schedule is the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin.
It’s that time of the week again, and we are back with our Pro Golf Now staff picks to win. This week’s event is the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open that will be played at TPC Summerlin.
Remember, these are the staff picks on who they themselves think will win the tournament. If you are interested in power rankings or a little bit of gambling, we have those covered as well.
Some of us are going from the gut. Other’s are going with solid logic. Meanwhile, some of us are taking the “it’s hard to pick PGA winners, so why not player Y”.

We have yet to get a winner this season, but we did get another top-five finish. This time, from John “Davey” McWaters. He chose the frontrunner, Justin Thomas, and for good reason. Thomas was able to lock down a T-4th place finish.
Brooks Koepka – 15/2
Cameron Salce – My guess is that Brooks Koepka wins in his season debut. He probably wants to start the season strong after not being able to take home the Fed Ex Cup title at the end of last year.
Patrick Cantlay – 10/1
Brandon Raper – As much as I love Patrick Cantlay’s game and his record at TPC Summerlin, I just can’t go against Brooks Koepka at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
This is a surprisingly strong field for a fall series event, but I think that actually helps Koepka’s case for the win, as he has proven his ability to rise up when the stakes are the highest. Add in the extra motivation of snagging some important FedEx Cup points early, and a little bit of a chip on his shoulder from losing the PGA TOUR Player of the Year award to Rory McIlroy, and you’ve got a recipe for one driven athlete.
"“I’m not your typical golfer, definitely not a golf nerd,” Koepka said recently. “I have an athlete’s mentality, a true athlete, and if that rubs people the wrong way, tough.”"
Yep, not betting against that anytime soon.
Adam Scott – 20/1
Richie Randolph – I am going with Adam Scott this week. The smooth-swinging Australian finished T17 at the Safeway Open and is one of the world’s best ball strikers. Coming off a stellar 2019 season (capped by a 6th place finish at the Tour Championship), Scott will kick off the ‘new’ season with a bang and win in Vegas!
Tony Finau – 22/1
Eric Sedransk – Tony Finau
Collin Morikawa – 25/1
Chris O’Day – I think the youngster continues with the impressive start to his career and gets an early-season win.
Adam Hadwin – 40/1
Hans Geevers – Adam Hadwin. The Canadian finished runner up to Cameron Champ at last week’s Safeway Open. He also finished second at the 2019 Desert Classic.
Clearly, this man loves playing in the desert. I love Hadwin’s chances to win this week!
Kevin Na – 66/1
West Valentine – My pick is Las Vegas hometown boy, Kevin Na. Vegas has lots of distractions for a professional athlete. Kevin Na lives there, so he’s over it. He is also a past winner at this event so he has some good vibes flowing. Look for Kevin to walk in a bunch of birdies and win with a score of 21-under.
Abraham Ancer – 66/1
Matt Coles – I will go for Abraham Ancer this week! Let’s get that win!
Aaron Wise – 70/1
John “Davey” McWaters – I’m liking Aaron Wise for this week. He played well at this tournament last year with a T-15. I look for him to make a charge again at TPC Summerlin.
Jim Furyk – 80/1
Kathy Bissell – Jim Furyk
Best of luck to everyone this week!
